Coupling to spin fluctuations from conductivity scattering rates
نویسنده
چکیده
A recent analysis of optical conductivity data which has provided evidence for coupling of the charge carriers to the 41meV spin resonance seen in the superconducting state of optimally doped YBa2Cu3O6.95 (Y123), is extended to other systems. We find that the corresponding spin resonance is considerably broader in Tl2Sr2CuO8+δ (Tl2201) and YBa2Cu4O8 (Y124) than it is in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ (Bi2212) and there is no resonance in overdoped Tl2201 with Tc = 23K. The effective charge-spin spectral density is temperature dependent and contains feedback effects that further stabilize superconductivity as T is reduced. Infrared conductivity of a dx2-y2-wave superconductor with impurity and spin-fluctuation scattering.
Calculations are presented of the in-plane far-infrared conductivity of a dx2−y2-wave superconductor, incorporating elastic scattering due to impurities and inelastic scattering due to spin fluctuations. The impurity scattering is modeled by short-range potential scattering with arbitrary phase shift, while scattering due to spin fluctuations is calculated within a weak-coupling Hubbard model p...
متن کاملSingularities in the optical response of cuprates
We argue that the detailed analysis of the optical response in cuprate superconductors allows one to verify the magnetic scenario of superconductivity in cuprates. As for strong coupling charge carriers to antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations, the second derivative of optical conductivity should contain detectable singularities at 2D1Dspin , 4D , and 2D12Dspin , where D is the amplitude of the s...
متن کاملGiant electrothermal conductivity and spin-phonon coupling in an antiferromagnetic oxide.
The application of weak electric fields ( less, similar 100 V/cm) is found to dramatically enhance the lattice thermal conductivity of the antiferromagnetic insulator CaMnO3 over a broad range of temperature about the Néel ordering point (125 K). The effect is coincident with field-induced detrapping of bound electrons, suggesting that phonon scattering associated with short- and long-ranged an...
متن کاملTransport Processes and Thermal Conductivity near the Critical Temperature
— Near magnetic phase transitions a strong interaction between critical fluctuations in the magnetic spin system and the phonon heat carriers can lead to a phonon scattering that has a marked effect on the lattice thermal conductivity. By applying a large enough magnetic field to impose a ferromagnetic order on the spins, thereby eliminating the critical fluctuations, the phonon scattering by t...
متن کاملIntrinsic spin Hall effect in the presence of extrinsic spin-orbit scattering
Intrinsic and extrinsic spin Hall effects are considered together on an equal theoretical footing for the Rashba spin-orbit coupling in two-dimensional 2D electron and hole systems, using the diagrammatic method for calculating the spin Hall conductivity. Our analytic theory for the 2D holes shows the expected lowest-order additive result for the spin Hall conductivity. But, the 2D electrons ma...
